Rig AD-1 is a DRECO “Space-Saver” drilling and workover rig that was bought from Maersk Drilling in 2006. It was designed and built in 1982 by Dreco Inc., USA.
Prior to being acquired by Asia Drilling Pte Ltd, the rig worked in the southern gas fields off Gt. Yarmouth where space on platforms was at a premium. Although it was designed for North Sea platform work, it also successfully completed an 11,500 ft well on a very restricted location on the Faroe Islands for many years.
Rig AD-1 was shipped from Denmark and safely offloaded at the Myanmar Shipyards on 31 March 2007. Upon arrival in Myanmar, it was fully stripped down and all related equipment were sand blasted and cleaned. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) was performed by Myanmar Shipyards under the supervision of Lloyd’s Surveyors and received full Lloyd’s Certification.
